There's a reason electro forged grating has been the backbone of industrial flooring for decades — when you need something that carries real loads without bending, shifting, or loosening over time, welded steel bar grating is simply the most reliable option available. At AMROCK, we manufacture electro forged steel gratings — also called welded bar gratings or industrial steel gratings — for platforms, mezzanines, staircase treads, drainage covers, and process area flooring across refineries, power plants, and infrastructure projects throughout India.
What sets electro forged grating apart from pressure-locked or swaged types is the bond itself. In electro forge welding, high electrical current and pressure are applied at each bearing bar and cross bar intersection, creating a molecular bond - not a mechanical joint. The cross bars can't shift, loosen, or pull free under load or vibration. Over the life of the platform, that means consistent performance and no maintenance headaches from loosening cross bars.
We supply mild steel and hot-dip galvanized steel in plain and serrated bearing bar options - with in-house fabrication for custom sizes, cut-outs, banded edges, and toe plates. If you need it in a specific shape or size, we can make it.
In electro forge welding, the bearing bars and cross bars are positioned in a welding fixture and subjected to a precisely controlled electrical current and mechanical forge pressure at each intersection point simultaneously. The heat generated by the current, combined with the forge pressure, creates a solid-state metallurgical bond — without any filler material. The result is a weld point that is typically stronger than either of the bars being joined. This is the defining structural advantage of electro forged grating over assembled or pressure-locked alternatives.
Standard smooth bearing bars with a flat top surface. Appropriate for indoor covered walkways, maintenance access platforms, and areas where standard footwear traction is sufficient.
Serrated steel grating features notched bearing bar tops that cut through surface contaminants — water, oil, mud — to provide reliable grip. This is the mandatory specification for outdoor platforms, loading bays, and any area exposed to process fluids or rain.
I-bar grating uses I-section bearing bars rather than flat bars, delivering significantly higher span-to-depth efficiency. For long-span platform flooring in power plants, overhead crane maintenance areas, and bridge structures where support spacings exceed 1000 mm, I-bar grating is the engineered solution.

The electro-forged bond creates the strongest possible bar intersection - the weld point exceeds the parent bar strength, so the grating performs exactly as the engineering calculation says it will
The grid structure passes light, air, and liquids through freely — critical for platforms above chemical processes, drainage areas, and ventilated access floors
Automated welding produces consistently flat panels with tight tolerances - no camber, no warping during fabrication or galvanizing
Cut to size, banded edges, circular cut-outs for pipes, stair tread nosings, toe plates — we fabricate to your drawing, not just to a standard size
Process platform flooring, pump station surrounds, compressor deck grating, staircase treads.
Boiler house walkways, turbine hall flooring, coal handling decks, ash handling area platforms.
Overhead crane maintenance platforms, rolling mill walkways, furnace surrounds, slag handling areas.
Filter house platforms, pump room flooring, clarifier walkways, screen chamber access.
Architectural screens, mezzanine flooring, parking structure drainage channels, sunshades.
The selection comes down to four things: span, load, environment, and finish. For indoor dry environments with light traffic, plain painted grating is cost-effective. For outdoor or mildly corrosive environments, hot-dip galvanized serrated grating is the standard. AMROCK provides bearing bar selection tables and deflection calculations for every project — if you give us the span, load, and environment, we'll recommend the exact specification.
AMROCK's electro forge welding machines operate with automated current and pressure control at each intersection, producing consistent bond quality across every panel. After welding, panels are fabricated to project dimensions with banded edges, and then processed through hot-dip galvanizing facility — where panels are cleaned, acid-pickled, fluxed, and dipped in molten zinc at 450°C. This produces an average 600 g/m² zinc coating covering every surface including weld points and internal corners. Every galvanized panel is visually inspected for coating continuity before dispatch.
We supply both, so we can give you a straight answer. If your environment is corrosive, coastal, or offshore — or if electrical conductivity is a safety concern — FRP grating will serve you better years. If your environment is dry or mildly damp, and load requirements are heavy (vehicle loads, heavy equipment), electro forged steel grating with galvanized finish is the stronger, more cost-effective choice.
